210 women, children arrested as FCTA begins crackdown on beggars

Over 200 street beggars, including women and children, have been arrested in the Federal Capital Territory, as the FCTA begins full enforcement of its citywide cleanup campaign code-named Operation Sweep Abuja Clean.


The campaign which was launched on Monday at the directive of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, is tasked with the responsibility of ridding the streets of beggars, scavengers, and other public nuisances.
