Apple Inc. has made significant changes to its executive team in an effort to accelerate its artificial intelligence development, following months of setbacks, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, citing sources familiar with the matter.
The restructuring comes as some AI enhancements to Apple’s voice assistant, Siri, have been pushed back until 2026. The company had previously acknowledged the delays but did not provide a reason.
As part of the shake-up, Mike Rockwell, vice president of the Vision Products Group, will now oversee Siri. The move follows reports that Apple CEO Tim Cook has lost confidence in John Giannandrea, the company’s head of AI, regarding product execution.
