Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has called for a shift in Nigeria’s political landscape, urging leaders to prioritize essential services over personal gain. Speaking at the Rotary International District 9141 Conference in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Osinbajo emphasized that politics should center on delivering quality education, accessible healthcare, and a robust social security system—basic rights for every citizen.
Delivering a keynote address titled “The Magic of Connection: The Imperative and Privilege of Service,” Osinbajo described service-oriented leadership as both a duty and a privilege. He cited Chief Obafemi Awolowo’s introduction of free basic education in Western Nigeria as a model of selfless governance, noting its transformative impact despite significant costs.
