The Northern Christian Religious Leaders Assembly – Nigeria (NOCRELA) has announced the appointment of eminent Nigerians as Patrons and Matrons of the Assembly in recognition of their outstanding contributions to nation-building, Christian service, and leadership.
The Board of Trustees of NOCRELA, in a statement signed by its National Chairman, Archbishop John Praise, and General Secretary, Rev. Dr. Simon A.S. Dolly, said the appointments were a mark of honour for men and women whose integrity, faith, and commitment to peace and justice have stood the test of time.
Those named as Patrons include:
Prof. Jerry Gana, former Minister of Information, Niger State;
Barr. Bala James Ngilari, former Governor of Adamawa State;
Dr. John Dara, Kwara State;
Dr. Danladi Kifasi, former Head of Service of the Federation, Nasarawa State;
Gen. Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd.), former Chief of Defence Staff, Kaduna State;
Gbenga Olawepo Hashim, Covenant Altar of Worship Ministry, Abuja (Kebbi State);
Lt. Gen. Ishaya Rizi Bamaiyi (Rtd.), former Chief of Army Staff, Kebbi State.
The Matrons are:
Hon. Mrs. Nanadi Usman, former Minister of Finance, Kaduna State;
Amb. Esther Audu, former Chairman, AMAC, FCT;
Prof. Salamatu Machunga, HOD, University of Abuja, from Borno State.
According to NOCRELA, the newly appointed Patrons and Matrons will provide “invaluable spiritual guidance, mentorship, and leadership” to the Assembly. Their wide-ranging expertise in governance, security, education, diplomacy, and ministry will be harnessed to strengthen the Assembly’s role in promoting peace, reconciliation, and godly leadership in Northern Nigeria and across the federation.
“They will also serve as advocates for peace, justice, and the inclusion of women and youths in leadership, while advancing interfaith harmony and spiritual growth,” the statement read.
The Investiture Ceremony is scheduled to hold on Thursday, 2nd October, 2025 at Dominion Chapel International Church, Area 1, Garki, Abuja, beginning at 10:00 a.m. prompt.
The Assembly congratulated all the appointees and expressed confidence that their contributions will “help strengthen the body of Christ and bring greater peace and prosperity to the nation.”
