The Youth Against Violence Extremism, YAVE, has launched an innovative digital platform and announces nationwide contest to champion youth-led peacebuilding.
The launch in Abuja, Mohammed Sadiq Mustapha, interim National Coordinator of YAVE, stated, “is not just a project, it is a movement. A movement that empowers Nigerian youth to reclaim their narratives, challenge extremist ideologies, and lead the charge for peace through creativity, innovation, and digital engagement.”
According to Mustapha, the launch also signals the commencement of a national digital contest designed to empower and mobilize young voices across Nigeria to take an active role in promoting peace, resilience, and positive narratives.
The new platform, unveiled during a high-level youth engagement event, the interim coordinator said is to enable young people to exchange ideas, co-create solutions, and lead impactful initiatives that counter violent extremism, CVE, at the grassroots and national levels.
The initiative is expected to reinforce the critical role of youth as catalysts for change, positioning them not just as stakeholders, but as leaders in shaping a more peaceful and secure society.
The nationwide digital contest the YAVE stated is open to Nigerian youths using various digital formats such as short films, graphics, photography, poetry, spoken word, essays, and other creative media.
The contest aims to spotlight youth innovation and promote peace narratives in both local and national contexts.
