Actors Guild of Nigeria Reinstates Halima Abubakar After Defamation Suspension

Abubakar was indefinitely suspended following defamation allegations against fellow actors and other prominent Nigerians. A two-year investigation by an AGN-appointed panel found her culpable, barring her from guild activities and film projects during the suspension period.


Outgoing AGN National President Emeka Rollas announced the reinstatement during Thursday’s inauguration ceremony for the guild’s new National Executive Council at its Abuja secretariat. The event drew actors from across Nigeria, along with filmmakers and entertainment industry stakeholders.


Rollas, whose second and final term concluded in December 2025, transferred leadership to incoming president Abubakar Yakubu. He used the transition occasion to lift suspensions for Abubakar and other sanctioned members.
