The Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into the mysterious death of a soldier and his wife at Wawa Cantonment in Niger State.
The deceased soldier, identified as Lance Corporal Akinleye Femi of the 221 Battalion, was reportedly on duty within the barracks on October 11, 2025, when he requested permission from his superior to attend to a personal matter. Shortly after, both he and his wife were found lifeless in their apartment located at Block 15, Room 24, Corporals and Below Quarters.
The incident has thrown the military community into shock, raising concerns over the circumstances that led to the tragic deaths. Preliminary findings suggest the possibility that the soldier may have killed his wife before committing suicide, although authorities say a thorough investigation is ongoing to establish the facts.
