FG Slams Multichoice With ₦766m Fine Over Data Breach, Privacy Violations

The Federal Government has imposed a hefty fine of ₦766,242,500 on Multichoice Nigeria, the country’s largest pay-TV provider, over alleged violations of the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA).


The Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC), in a statement issued on Sunday by its Head of Legal, Enforcement and Regulations, Babatunde Bamigboye, disclosed that the fine followed a comprehensive one-year investigation into the company’s handling of subscriber data.
