Armed bandits suspected to be herders launched a deadly assault on Yanriwa Market in the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State on Saturday, killing five traders and injuring seven others.
According to local resident Lawrence Akerigba, the attack occurred around 3 p.m. while trading activities were in full swing. Speaking by telephone, Akerigba described how the gunmen stormed the market and opened fire indiscriminately, causing widespread panic and bloodshed.
