In a signed statement, Fubara dismissed these allegations as “baseless and aimed at misleading the public,” emphasizing that Nwaeke would not have been privy to high-level political meetings. He also rejected claims that he orchestrated attacks on oil pipelines and other national assets in the state.


“I have always preached peace in Rivers State, even in the face of obvious provocations,” Fubara stated, suggesting that Nwaeke may have been coerced or financially induced to make false claims.


Adding a new dimension to the controversy, a video has emerged showing Nwaeke’s wife, Florence, tearfully contacting Governor Fubara via WhatsApp, expressing fears that her husband had been kidnapped. She claimed her husband resigned because he refused to sign documents against Fubara and was pressured into making statements under duress.
