Concerned persons claiming education interest has petitioned the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, over the appointment of a vice chancellor for the Federal University, Wukari, in Taraba State.
In the petition signed by its national coordinator, Bulus Zakari, the group stated the proposed appointment of Dr. Benjamin Kefas will contravene the stipulated standard expected for the appointment of a VC as encouraged by the National Universities Commission, NUC.
According to the petitioners, there is no record indicating that Dr. Kefas has attained the rank of professor within the university system, a key requirement for appointment as Vice-Chancellor.
