Gumi made the claims via his Facebook page, asserting that Washington pursued back-channel diplomacy with Khamenei as a cover for what he described as a coordinated plot against the Iranian leader’s life. He went further to characterize such conduct as a recurring pattern of American foreign policy.
The cleric had earlier reacted to the reported killing of Ayatollah Khamenei, which he attributed to a US-Israeli military operation. In a separate post, Gumi praised the late Iranian leader, describing him as a martyr who died championing resistance against what he called the killing of innocent civilians in Gaza and elsewhere.
“Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is a lucky soul,” Gumi wrote, adding that the Iranian leader’s death would, in his view, inspire change across the Muslim world. He also issued a veiled warning to those he held responsible for Khamenei’s death, saying history would judge their actions.
