IGP, Senator Yaradua Meet On Electoral Reform Bill

Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, on Tuesday received Senator Abdul-Azeez Yaradua at the Force Headquarters in Abuja for discussions on ongoing reforms to Nigeria’s electoral laws, particularly the proposed Electoral Reform Bill, which seeks to enable early voting for police officers and other security personnel deployed on election duty.


According to a statement released by the Force PRO, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Senator Yaradua was accompanied by Samson Itodo, Executive Director of Yiaga Africa; Cynthia Mbamalu, Director of Programmes at Yiaga Africa; and other stakeholders.


The lawmaker presented the draft bill to the IGP for review, professional input, and institutional guidance to ensure it addresses the operational realities of policing elections while protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
