INEC re-trains staff ahead of Anambra governorship election

The Independent National Electoral Commission has begun re-training its officials in Anambra State ahead of the November 8 governorship election.


Those involved include Electoral Officers, Heads of Department and Assistant Electoral Officers. The exercise comes just 11 days after INEC successfully conducted bye-elections in 16 constituencies across 12 states.


Speaking at the workshop, INEC Chairman’s Chief Technical Adviser, Prof. Bolade Eyinla, said the Election Monitoring and Support Centre was designed as a real-time planning and early warning tool. He noted that the system had been in use since the Ekiti governorship poll in 2018 and had proven critical in managing the 2019 and 2023 general elections as well as other off-cycle polls.
