In a dramatic volte-face that has reshaped Kano’s political landscape, a former governor of the state and national leader of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has endorsed the planned defection of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf and other elected officials from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Kwankwaso announced his decision in a short video message released on Tuesday by his media aide, Saifullahi Hassan, bringing to an abrupt end weeks of public tension and uncertainty within the Kano chapter of the NNPP.
