Kwankwaso’s Son Resigns from Kano Cabinet Following Governor Yusuf’s APC Defection

The political landscape in Kano State has been shaken following the resignation of Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso from his position as Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development. The move comes amid swirling reports that Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is abandoning the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).


Mustapha, whose father Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso leads the NNPP and remains a vocal opponent of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, announced his departure from the state executive council on Monday in a carefully worded statement.


Despite the apparent political tensions, Mustapha thanked Governor Yusuf for the opportunity to serve. “I want to express my deepest gratitude to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for the opportunity to serve the great people of Kano State,” he said, adding that he valued the experience gained during his tenure.
