The Lagos State Government has announced a strategic partnership with Lagos State University (LASU) and Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM) to address the alarming rise in mental health issues among students in tertiary institutions.
This was revealed by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, during the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing held on Friday, at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja.
Dr. Finnih cited findings from a recent research study which showed that 22.5% of students at LASU reported symptoms of depression, while 21.6% admitted to experiencing suicidal thoughts.
