In a statement signed by Ambassador Dr. Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, National Chairman of PANDEF, the organization also commended the National Assembly for its timely work on the legislation, which aims to tackle the unique socio-economic and environmental challenges facing the South-South region.
PANDEF highlighted that the signing of the bill has renewed the people’s confidence in the Federal Government’s efforts to address the developmental deficits in the region. The body stressed that the South-South region, which has played a pivotal role in sustaining Nigeria’s economy through its vast oil and gas resources, deserves a structured and effective intervention to improve infrastructure and social well-being.
As the government sets up the new commission, PANDEF urged President Tinubu to appoint competent and experienced professionals who can complement the efforts of state governors in delivering sustainable development.
