P&ID: UK Supreme Court Upholds Nigeria’s Right To Recover £44.2 Million Legal Costs

The United Kingdom Supreme Court has dismissed an appeal by Process & Industrial Developments Limited (P&ID), affirming that Nigeria is entitled to recover its legal costs in pounds sterling rather than naira after overturning a multi-billion-dollar arbitral award.


Papers News reports that the ruling, delivered on October 22, 2025, in Michaelmas Term [2025] UKSC 36, saw a panel led by Lord Reed, President of the Supreme Court, unanimously uphold earlier judgments of the Commercial Court and the Court of Appeal.
