Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, narrowly escaped re-arrest on Tuesday after the withdrawal of a petition filed against him by veteran fuji musician, Okunola Saheed (Osupa).
The petition, which accused Portable of multiple offenses including criminal defamation, criminal intimidation, inciting public disturbance, and cyberstalking, was officially retracted by Osupa following intervention from influential stakeholders in the music industry.
The petition from Starwood Hotels, titled ‘Petition for Fraudulent and Obtaining by False Pretence the Sum of N6.3 Million’, claims that despite signing a performance agreement with Portable, the singer failed to honor the contract, leading to significant financial loss for the hotel and event organizers.
