Presidency’s Needless Vilification of Obasanjo

The Presidency last week criticised former President Olusegun Obasanjo for his recent position on the nation’s security crisis, saying that the former president lacks the credibility to criticise President Bola Tinubu’s administration over the worsening security situation in the country.


In a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, it asserted that the foundation of terrorism and extremist violence in Nigeria was laid during Obasanjo’s tenure.


Speaking penultimate Friday at the Plateau State Unity Christmas Carols in Jos, Obasanjo said given the available technology today – drones, Nigeria ought to be engaged in the business of taking terrorists and bandits out, not negotiating with them or apologising to Nigerians for their violent activities.
