Tensions flared in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Tuesday as hundreds of youths took to the streets to protest the alleged killing of 23-year-old Emmanuella Ahenjir, a final-year student of the Federal University, Wukari, by police personnel.
Emmanuella was reportedly shot dead in the early hours of last Friday by unidentified police officers at the Wurukum roundabout while traveling in a vehicle from the Gyado Villa area of the city.
