The announcement, made through a statement by Dr Honour Sirawoo, Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Information and Communications, comes less than 72 hours after the governor restructured his executive team. The recent reshuffle saw Sports Commissioner Christopher Green redeployed to serve as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, while continuing to supervise sports ministry operations pending the appointment of a permanent replacement.
The new Special Advisers include Professor Peter Medee, who previously held the position of Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, and Barrister Eloka Tasie-Amadi, former Commissioner for Works. Both officials were impacted by a recent Supreme Court ruling that recognized Martin Amaewhule as the lawful Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
All five appointees are scheduled to take their oath of office on Friday, January 2, 2026, at noon in the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Port Harcourt. They have been instructed to arrive by 11:30 a.m. for the swearing-in ceremony.
