Senate to screen ex-CDS Musa as Defence Minister today amid security challenges

The Nigerian Senate is set to screen General Christopher Gwabin Musa, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff, as the new Minister of Defence today, Wednesday, in a crucial move to bolster the country’s security framework. Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, Leader of the Senate, announced this in a statement, emphasizing the significance of the exercise in ensuring internal peace and stability.


Musa’s nomination follows the resignation of former Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru, citing health issues. President Bola Tinubu nominated the former defence chief via a letter transmitted to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.
