The Transmission Company of Nigeria has reported the collapse of three transmission towers after the Ikeja West-Osogbo 330kV line tripped during a windy rainfall, resulting in a load loss of 165 megawatts.
According to a statement signed by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Friday, the incident occurred on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at around 9:22 p.m., approximately 14.9 kilometers from the Ikeja-West transmission substation.
The statement read, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria announces that on Wednesday, April 2, 2025, at approximately 9:22 pm, the Ikeja-West/Osogbo 330 kV line tripped at a distance of about 14.9 km from Ikeja-West Transmission Substation. The incident occurred during windy rainfall, resulting in a load loss of 165 MW.”
