The Commissioner of Police for Special Intervention Squad, CP Abayomi Shogunle, has stated that the 2023 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, was arrested over two petitions against him.
Papers News reports that Shogunle, while addressing protesters and the press in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Friday, said Sowore’s detention was ordered after allegedly refusing to make a statement upon police interrogation.
According to him, they are investigating the activist based on two petitions bordering on alleged forgery of a police document and cyberbullying.
