The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) has announced the disbursement of ₦8.6 billion as another instalment of pension arrears to 148,625 pensioners under the Defined Benefit Scheme (DBS), following the ₦32,000 pension increment approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2024.
The payment, which cuts across all four departments under PTAD: Police, Civil Service, Parastatals, and Customs, Immigration and Prisons, was confirmed in a statement signed by Olugbenga Ajayi, Head of Corporate Communications at the Directorate.
According to the statement, the disbursement is part of the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to settle outstanding arrears resulting from the second pension increment announced in July 2024. The first increment, a 20/28% raise effective from January 2024, had already been fully paid earlier by PTAD.
